Nebojsa Covic has revealed two coaching stories from his time at Crvena Zvezda. Speaking about his spell in charge of the Belgrade club, before moving into his current role as president of the Serbian Basketball Federation, he said he wanted Vassilis Spanoulis to become head coach after Dusko Ivanovic left, but the Greek felt it was too early for him to coach in the EuroLeague.
Covic described the contact in these terms: “After Dusko’s departure, I wanted to bring Vassilis Spanoulis. That was an idea of mine, we talked, but he honestly said that it was too early for him to coach in the EuroLeague.”
He also mentioned Andrea Trinchieri, saying Crvena Zvezda had once been very close to an agreement with the Italian coach before he chose to pursue an NBA assistant role. Covic added that, after Trinchieri later signed with Partizan, there was no longer a realistic path for him to join Zvezda.

Makis Angelopoulos, owner of AEK Athens, has officially applied for a license in Athens as part of the NBA Europe project, according to Eurohoops. As announced by Mark Tatum, more than 50 organizations have expressed interest, with AEK currently the only Greek club involved.

With prior professional experience of 46 games in Canada and Turkey before arriving at Valencia Basket, Omari Moore faced the challenge not only of making his debut in European competitions, but of doing so in the continent’s top competition. In his EuroLeague debut season, he is currently averaging 9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists for a performance rating of 9.4 in just under 19 minutes of playing time. He improves on those numbers in the Liga Endesa, where he is the team’s fifth-highest rated player, averaging 8.9 points with 36% shooting from three-point range, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists for 10 rating points per game.
Barcelona is working well in advance on a major summer rebuild, with several roster moves already taking shape. According to Javier Maestro, the Blaugrana club already has two big-man deals lined up and is now turning its main attention to the point guard position.
