Nuggets could waive Jonas Valanciunas amid crucial offseason decisions

Valanciunas could head back overseas after 14 NBA seasons and career-averages of 12.8 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes per game.

The Denver Nuggets are expected to face several important decisions during the upcoming offseason.

Denver currently has 10 players under contract for the 2026/27 season for a total of roughly $213 million, and according to the Denver Post, Jonas Valanciunas is among the main candidates to leave Colorado.

The Lithuanian center is set to earn $10 million next season, but only $2 million of that salary is guaranteed. As a result, the Nuggets could save up to $9.3 million by waiving Valanciunas using the stretch provision.

The veteran big man already appeared close to joining Panathinaikos last summer, and he would likely attract strong interest from several EuroLeague powerhouses if he decides to return to Europe.
