Tyrese Haliburton has opened up about his battle with shingles, revealing how the disease affected his face and slowed part of his recovery process. The Indiana Pacers guard, who has missed the entire 2025-26 season while rehabbing a torn right Achilles, said there was a point when he could not even appear on camera because one eye was almost completely swollen shut.
Haliburton said he lost part of an eyebrow, has continued to deal with swelling and itching, and is still going through more bad days than good ones. The 26-year-old also explained that he received a Botox injection, changed medications several times, and experienced weight gain as a side effect of his latest treatment.
Despite the setback, Haliburton recently resumed five-on-five scrimmages and said he no longer thinks about the leg injury itself. He also shared a strong message after living through the illness firsthand, urging people over 50 to get the shingles vaccine: “This has sucked”.
