The Sacramento Kings reportedly have no interest in a buyout with Zach LaVine at this time. According to James Ham of Locked On Kings, despite speculation about the veteran guard’s fit on a rebuilding team, neither the franchise nor the player is currently pursuing that route.
LaVine is entering the final season of his contract at $48.9 million. A buyout could have allowed Sacramento to reduce that figure while giving the guard a chance to join a contender, but both sides are reportedly aligned in not wanting to move forward that way.
The Kings remain willing to work with LaVine on finding a new team via trade, as they have throughout the offseason. For now, however, the expectation is that LaVine will open the season in Sacramento, with any buyout scenario more likely to be revisited only after the trade deadline.
