Toronto secures the star forward following his return to Canada in the trade with the Los Angeles Clippers

The Toronto Raptors have signed Kawhi Leonard to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced. Financial terms and the length of the agreement were not disclosed.

Leonard returned to Toronto on September 14 in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. He averaged a career-high 27.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.7 steals across 65 games last season, earning All-NBA Second Team honors.

The 35-year-old previously played for the Raptors in 2018-19, leading the franchise to its first NBA championship and winning Finals MVP. The extension confirms Toronto’s commitment to building around Leonard once again.
