LeBron James matched Robert Parish at 1,611 career games during the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Heat, adding another milestone to one of the most decorated résumés in league history. The achievement came after a difficult turnaround that included an overnight flight, a 5 a.m. hotel arrival and treatment on his arthritic left foot throughout the day.
James also delivered on the court, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists as the Lakers extended their winning streak to eight games. Speaking to ESPN, Parish praised James’ discipline and longevity, saying his commitment to fitness and recovery makes him worthy of breaking the record.
After the game, LeBron James also addressed the public narrative that the Lakers had played better while he was sidelined. He dismissed that argument, saying it may attract attention, but in his view it is simply wrong.
