L’allenatore del Monaco ha mostrato rispetto per l’Olympiacos, ma allo stesso tempo non voleva sembrare pessimista.
Sul fatto che molti non credessero nel Monaco: “All’inizio tutti dubitavano che saremmo arrivati al Final Four. È fantastico. Il gruppo di persone che mi circonda mi ha aiutato a diventare un allenatore migliore e a raggiungere tutto questo. Sono felice di essere con voi. Siamo venuti non solo per competere, ma per continuare a sognare”.
Sull’Olympiacos o il Monaco come favoriti: “Giocare contro una squadra con una tale storia, il miglior allenatore in Europa, e con tanta esperienza, cambia le cose nelle Final Four. Noi siamo gli outsider, ma lotteremo fino alla fine”.
Su cosa significa la qualificazione per il principato del Monaco: “Ogni giorno, dopo la nostra qualificazione, sentiamo cosa significa questo per il Monaco. Lo vediamo da due anni. È un onore per noi, per i giocatori, per il Monaco, per i tifosi. Cerchiamo di promuovere il basket. A volte non c’era molto apprezzamento per quello che facevamo. Ma ciò ci ha dato la motivazione per farcela. Di sicuro, ce l’abbiamo fatta”.

On what the qualification means for the Principality of Monaco: “Every day, following our qualification, you feel what this means for Monaco. We’ve been seeing it for two years now. It’s an honor for us, the players, Monaco, the fans. We try to promote basketball. Sometimes there wasn’t much appreciation for what we did. But it gave us motivation to succeed. And indeed, we made it”.
