Utah Jazz’s Lauri Markkanen out at least two weeks with hip injury

The Utah Jazz will be without Lauri Markkanen for at least two weeks, as an MRI on Thursday revealed symptomatic hip impingement with associated inflammation and a bone bruise, sources told ESPN.

Markkanen also twisted his right ankle in Wednesday’s practice, but tests on the ankle came back clean, per sources.

It’s the latest blow for Utah, which in the last two weeks has announced season-ending injuries to Jaren Jackson Jr. (knee), Jusuf Nurkic (nose) and Vince Williams Jr. (knee). The Jazz were also without Keyonte George in Thursday’s 129-118 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans due to a right ankle sprain.

Utah dropped to 18-41, the third-worst record in the West. Markkanen is averaging a team-high 26.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
