Spain, coach Scariolo: “This is the right direction, we need continuity”

After the two friendly defeats against France, Spain’s head coach, Sergio Scariolo, spoke to Marca about his team’s progress.

These are some of Scariolo’s statements at the end of the second match with the French national team, in which Spain showed some steps forward compared to the previous game:

“I’m not surprised because I know what this team is like, regardless of the individual names, but I am amazed by the personality they showed in front of 15.000 spectators and against a top-level team with brutal physical conditions. The results of these matches mean practically nothing to me, but the team’s morale does. We still need to get a boost of morale for the great game we played. This is the right direction. We need continuity, and that depends on squad depth and injuries, but we have positive signs. Our sadness comes from the injuries, which don’t seem easy. We’re already dealing with many absences and young players.”
