After an excellent season with the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL, Trey Kell returns to Europe to defend the colors of Bahcesehir Koleji.

The guard in Australia put together averages of 17.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

 

Coviran Granada inks Jacob Wiley

Jacob Wiley is a new Coviran Granada player, the Spanish team announced.

The power forward last weekend concluded his participation in the NBL with the Adelaide 36ers (10.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.1 APG).

Wiley signed a deal  for the remainder of the season. 

Janis Timma to join Obradoiro

According to Chema De Lucas, Obradoiro has reached an agreement to bring Janis Timma back to Spain.

The Latvian forward thus leaves Darussafaka, where he was producing 10 points, 4.2 rebounds and a steal between BSL and BCL.

The Spanish team is second-to-last in the ACB along with Rio Breogan and Granada with 6 wins.

Timma played in Spain with Baskonia in the 2017/18 season.

 

SLUC Nancy signs Chris Clemons

Chris Clemons has signed a deal until the end of the season with SLUC Nancy.

The point guard comes from the Windy City Bulls (G League) where he was scoring 15.9 points with 4.1 assists per game.

Clemons spent the 2022-23 season in CBA with Xinjiang Guanghui (17.9 PPG, 3.1 APG).

 

John Egbunu signs with Ningbo Rockets

John Egbunu has reached an agreement with the Ningbo Rockets, as announced by his agency.

The big man started the season in France with ASVEL before parting ways a month ago.

 

VL Pesaro reportedly in talks with Justin Wright-Foreman

VL Pesaro is in talks with Justin Wright-Foreman. The name, which had already emerged yesterday before Mockevicius’ farewell, is confirmed today in the Carlino newspaper.

According to the newspaper, the club has received the green light from coach Meo Sacchetti.

The 1997 born, 183-centimetres playmaker has played 12 games this season in the G League at an average of 18.3 points.

Italian newpaper LA Prealpina reports that Openjobmetis Varese is on the market to find a replacement for forward James Young. Two names emerge as main candidates: Michael Gilmore and Nuni Omot.

Gilmore, a 29-year-old wing-pivot with Belgian passport, currently with Paok, is the first choice of the Varese.

In the BCL he produced an average of 7.1 points with 5.9 rebounds in nine games.

Omot, a 28-year-old South Sudanese forward, is considered as an alternative, despite a less fortunate recent experience in France with Roanne. He averaged 9.3 points in four games.

The negotiation for Gilmore seems to be the most advanced, with the player still having to resolve his contract with Paok before.

Zalgiris brings back Karolis Lukosiunas

Zalgiris Kaunas has added a new player for the rest of the season. Karolis Lukosiunas, who played here last year, returns to the roster of Lithuanian champions. The 26-year-old sniper has been signed until the end of the season.

Lukosiunas has already played for Zalgiris Kaunas from 2018 to 2023, and last summer he left for the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League.

He played five games in the G-League, averaging 3.8 points (35.7% three-point accuracy).

With the deadline for new player registrations in the EuroLeague closing, Zalgiris head coach Andrea Trinchieri stressed the need for a kind of insurance policy.

“Zalgiris is always on the market, but sometimes you have to focus on what you already have at home. Right now we have a team with great chemistry. They give 110% in every game, but at the same time, both in the locker room and on the court, we feel that we need to preserve this group of players. Given the workload and the schedule, we have decided to bring in a player who can help us to rest our guys,” said Trinchieri.

According to Zalgiris Kaunas Director Paulus Jankunas, the return of the sniper seemed like a proven option at the moment.

“He is a player who has been with our club for a long time and can play specific roles and contribute in certain situations. The coaches had a need for such a player at the moment, and Karolis fits that description. His adaptation should not take long and the team gets a proven player,” said Jankunas about the newcomer.

Lukosiunas has already become Lithuanian champion three times and won the King Mindaugas Cup four times.

Ricky Rubio reportedly close to signing with FC Barcelona

Ricky Rubio is close to signing with FC Barcelona: an imminent decision is expected within the next few hours. The EuroLeague transfer market closes on Wednesday 7 February, and Barça seem not to want to wait until the last moment to announce the player’s return.

Sources at Mundo Deportivo suggest that the official announcement could happen as early as today. Although Rubio has yet to be ready to play, his registration is necessary to participate in the continental competition this season.

Barça intends not to rush Rubio’s return to the court, leaving the player free to decide the timing of his return. The Canadian big man returns to Europe after 6 seasons in the NBA (5 PPG, 4.4 RPG, 52% FG, 70% FT) between Orlando Magic and Toronto Raptors.

Early in his career Birch played in Turkey with Usak Sportlif and in Greece with Olympiacos.
