Another major setback has hit the Los Angeles Lakers: Austin Reaves will be out for the remainder of the regular season after Saturday’s exams revealed a Grade 2 left oblique muscle injury. The issue began during the loss to Oklahoma City, a game he still managed to finish despite the discomfort.
According to ESPN, Reaves is expected to miss 4-6 weeks, although the team did not provide an official return timetable. It is another huge blow for the Lakers, who had already lost Luka Doncic through at least the end of the regular season because of his hamstring injury.
Even with the roster short-handed, coach JJ Redick said the mission remains securing the No. 3 seed in the West and getting ready for the playoffs. Los Angeles still holds an edge over Denver, Houston and Minnesota, but the closing stretch has clearly become much more difficult without two of its main offensive engines.
