DeMar DeRozan to come off the bench for Nuggets

DeMar DeRozan

“I love basketball. It’s still basketball at the end of the day”

After 17 seasons as an undisputed starter with the Raptors, Spurs, Bulls and Kings, DeMar DeRozan will have to adjust to a new role in the upcoming season with the Denver Nuggets.

Following yesterday’s practice, head coach David Adelman confirmed to reporters that the six-time All-Star will become the team’s sixth man.

Coming off the bench, DeRozan will be able to focus on what he does best: putting points on the board with good efficiency.

The Nuggets’ starting five will therefore remain Jamal Murray, Christian Braun, Cameron Johnson, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic.

“My mindset? I want to win,” the 37-year-old said when asked about his potential role as the new sixth man.

“Go out there and compete. Be myself, go out there, help this team whatever way possible to win, compete. … I love basketball. It’s still basketball at the end of the day. So me going out there, doing whatever I need to win, that’s all I care about.”
