Recently, Nikola Jokic explained that, in his opinion, playing in Europe, where the result of every game matters, would be an ideal “training ground” for some players who are primarily focused on their individual statistics.
Gilbert Arenas, unsurprisingly, had something to say about it.
“If he was talking about the national team, nobody cares about the stats there either. Team USA didn’t care about the stats. That’s how we beat y’all, and we beat France before that. We didn’t care about the stats. We won the gold. If that’s what he was talking about.”
He then shifted the conversation to the EuroLeague.
“If he was talking about the EuroLeague, I’d say we don’t need to play in the EuroLeague. Our trash, the ones who can’t make our rosters, go over there and become the best players in the competition. The Americans are the best players in those countries… Who won it last year? I’m sure that team had an American as its leading scorer too.”
