The former Olimpia Milano big man has announced his retirement from the German national team after 128 appearances

Johannes Voigtmann announced through his social media channels that his time with the German national team has come to an end. “As of today, this chapter of my life is over,” the former Olimpia Milano player wrote.

“128 national team games. 128 times with the eagle on my chest. 128 times hearing the national anthem, looking at the flag and thinking about what it means to me,” Voigtmann said in his message. “I wish everyone could experience it at least once.”

The big man thanked his teammates, staff members, fans and especially his family for supporting him throughout every summer spent with Germany. “You made this journey truly special. It has been an absolute honor,” Voigtmann concluded.
