Thursday’s scheduled game between the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls was postponed after condensation on the court left the floor in unplayable condition. The United Center hosted a Blackhawks hockey game on Wednesday, and an unseasonably warm, rainy day contributed to the issue.
Players from both teams went through their usual pregame routines but did not consider the surface safe. After more than 90 minutes of unsuccessful fixes — including turning up the arena air conditioning and repeatedly drying the floor with mops and large towels — the situation didn’t improve.
The postponement was decided by the NBA league office, game officials and both coaching staffs. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said players on both sides were complaining and that it became clear “pretty much immediately” the court wasn’t playable. No makeup date was announced Thursday night.

Truly bizarre scenes at United Center tonight. The Bulls – Heat game has been delayed for more than a hour as crews work to clean the court from condensation caused by the torrential downpours outside, warmer temps and high humidity levels. @WGNNews pic.twitter.com/iVi5nuZdzs
