Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg sidelined vs Jazz with left ankle sprain

The Dallas Mavericks held Cooper Flagg out of their 144-122 win over the Utah Jazz due to a left ankle sprain.
It’s only the second game missed by the No. 1 pick this season, after an illness absence on Nov. 19 vs the New York Knicks.

Flagg suffered the injury in the second quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, twisting the ankle while defending Peyton Watson.
He briefly returned before halftime but showed discomfort and did not come back after the break.

Notably, it’s the second straight game he’s tweaked that same ankle, which was retaped Monday vs the Brooklyn Nets.
Flagg is averaging 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists, with Rookie of the Year buzz around him.
