The Golden State Warriors announced Stephen Curry will miss at least five more games due to his persistent right knee issue and will be re-evaluated in 10 days. The injury is listed as patellofemoral pain syndrome (“runner’s knee”), typically involving swelling and pain around the kneecap.
Curry has already missed 10 straight games, with the Warriors going 4-6 without him, and he’s expected to be out for upcoming matchups vs the Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, Jazz and Bulls. “This is a weird one… it’s kind of unpredictable how it’ll heal,” Curry said in an in-game ESPN interview with Malika Andrews.
Golden State was initially optimistic he could return after the All-Star break, but he had a setback during a workout that weekend and told the training staff he wasn’t ready for live work. The team shut him down from court work for 10 days; the Warriors say he’s making progress, but hasn’t advanced back to on-court work yet.
