EuroLeague franchise cost revealed in estimates, with figures rising up to 100 million

Permanent-license pricing is becoming a central topic in the competition’s long-term future

The future direction of the EuroLeague continues to point toward a franchise-style model, with permanent places expected to go to clubs willing to make major long-term investments. According to the discussion highlighted by SPORT24, a JB Capital valuation places the possible starting value of a license at €85 million, while other media estimates suggest a range between €45 million and €70 million, with some markets potentially going even higher.

Among the examples mentioned, markets such as Paris are seen as potentially reaching €100 million, while other cities, even with strong basketball tradition, could be valued lower depending on local economy, market size and commercial appeal. In other words, the price would not necessarily be fixed, but shaped by the strength of each individual project.

It is important to note, however, that the EuroLeague has confirmed its intention to keep moving toward a more stable franchise-based structure, but it has not published any official final pricing for permanent licenses. What the board has officially confirmed so far is the continuation of the 20-team, 38-game format for the 2026-27 season, while the long-term franchise path is still being developed.
