Tomas Masiulis addressed the Carsen Edwards incident after the guard was stopped by police in Kaunas for driving under the influence. The Zalgiris coach called the episode “inexcusable” and said Edwards apologized to the team and accepted responsibility.
“We had a conversation. He understands what he did. These things are simply inexcusable,” Masiulis said ahead of the EuroLeague game against Barcelona. “He genuinely regrets it, apologized to the team and to everyone, and took responsibility.”
Edwards was stopped during the night after the Lithuanian League game against Lietkabelis, with police recording a blood alcohol level of 1.07‰. Zalgiris later imposed a financial penalty, with the amount not disclosed.
“Bad, very bad. There’s nothing to evaluate here,” Masiulis added. “We should be glad everything ended well and that the police stopped him. We hope he learned his lesson.”
