The FIBA Women’s World Cup Semi-Final between the USA and Spain was decided in the final 10 minutes.
The score was tied at 58-58 after 30 minutes, but Kara Lawson’s team built a 10-point lead with five minutes remaining, with Stewart, Young and Gray repeatedly finding ways through the Spanish defense.
Spain, meanwhile, relied too heavily on the three-point shot, finishing 6-of-26 from beyond the arc without finding enough alternatives offensively.
The USA eventually prevailed 76-66. Stewart led the way with 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Young added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Copper also finished in double figures with 13 points and 4 rebounds.
For Spain, Conde and Martin led all scorers with 17 points apiece.
The USA will face France in the Final tomorrow at 8:00 PM.
