The San Antonio Spurs rested Victor Wembanyama on Thursday night, yet still delivered an impressive 118-99 win over the LA Clippers. The French star was held out for right ankle injury management in the second game of a back-to-back after San Antonio’s win over Golden State on Wednesday.
Wembanyama had dominated the Warriors just one night earlier, posting 41 points and 18 rebounds in only 29 minutes. Earlier Thursday, he was also named Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month for March, marking the third straight month he has earned the honor thanks to elite production across the board.
For the season, Victor Wembanyama is averaging 24.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 3.1 blocks and 1.1 steals per game. After missing this game, he now needs to appear in three of the Spurs’ final five regular-season games to reach the 65-game threshold for postseason award eligibility.
