It is now official. Shabazz Napier has signed a one-year contract, with an option for another season, with Bayern Munich.
‘I want to thank Bayern for this opportunity; I am very excited about the season,’ the comment of the former Olimpia Milano point guard, who has already completed medical tests and attended his new team’s friendly game against Würzburg under Gordon Herbert.
‘I’m looking forward to playing with great players and continuing to learn from a fantastic coaching staff. My goal is to celebrate very important victories with the Bayern fans in the coming season. I am convinced that we can achieve this goal under the leadership of coach Herbert’.
At Bayern Napier rejoins Johannes Voigtmann, with whom he won two Scudetti in Italy. Dragan Tarlac, the Bavarians’ new sports director, said: ’We agreed that we had to be patient and wait for the right option to finalise our roster planning. With Napier we found a player who brings not only individual skills and leadership, but also a wealth of experience. During our talks with him, it quickly became clear that we share common goals and that he is eager to play with his former teammates and for coach Herbert. We are very happy that he is here in Munich’.
🇺🇸 We add another @UConnMBB legend to the roster: Shabazz Napier signs with us and joins his fellow two-time NCAA champion Niels Giffey for at least one season.
