Saliou Niang injury: it’s a race against time for a return to the court in the round of 16. The Italian forward was forced to leave the court during the fourth quarter of Italbasket’s victory over Spain in Limassol.

In pain on the ground after a rebound jump, Saliou Niang returned to the bench where he was promptly treated by the Azzurri medical and athletic staff: his shoe was removed and ice packs were applied to his right ankle.
Today, the player underwent an MRI scan, and an announcement from the FIP is expected this afternoon.
Sky Sport had already ruled out a serious problem last night. According to Sportando, the MRI scan did not reveal any serious damage, indicating that it is a sprained ankle with effusion.
Saliou Niang will therefore remain at rest with Cyprus, undergoing daily assessments in the hope that he can return to the court for the Eurobasket 2025 round of 16 in Riga.
