Saddiq Bey has agreed to a three-year, $55.5 million contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans, his agents James Dunleavy and Jordan Gertler of Excel Sports Management told ESPN. The agreement also includes a trade kicker.
Bey is now under contract with New Orleans through the 2029-30 season, with the deal fully guaranteed.
Bey coming off a career year
Bey missed the entire 2024-25 season after suffering a torn ACL during his time with the Atlanta Hawks. He bounced back last season with New Orleans, averaging a career-high 17.7 points per game.
He appeared in 72 games, starting 64 of them, while also averaging 5.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
Bey recorded three of the four highest-scoring games of his career during the season, scoring 42 points against Utah on February 26, 36 against Memphis on January 23 and 34 against Philadelphia on January 31.
Strong finish to the season
According to ESPN Research, Bey averaged 20 points per game while shooting 40% from three-point range after the All-Star break.
He also posted career highs in both two-point field-goal attempts and makes, as well as free-throw attempts and makes per game.
Bey was originally selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Pelicans lock up Bey long term
Across 364 career games with the Pistons, Hawks and Pelicans, Bey has averaged 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
New Orleans will open its preseason schedule against the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 6, while the regular season begins at home against the Indiana Pacers on October 21.
