The Los Angeles Lakers are shopping Talen Horton-Tucker.

Per LA Times, The Los Angeles Lakers are shopping Talen Horton-Tucker in trade discussions, sources tell the Los Angeles Times.

While the Lakers still value Horton-Tucker, they lack ways of improving their roster without including him and his salary in a trade.

The Lakers re-signed Horton-Tucker on a three-year, $32 million deal in the offseason.

Horton-Tucker is averaging 10.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 27.4 minutes over 28 games this season.

 

Lakers have “no current plans” to replace coach Frank Vogel

The Los Angeles Lakers have no current plans to replace coach Frank Vogel.
The coach was on the hot seat but after the win against the Jazz he saved his job.

Per LA Times, “There are no current plans” to replace Vogel, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

The Lakers defeated the Utah Jazz on Monday, which took him off the hot seat.

Rob Pelinka and Kurt Rambis met with Vogel and David Fizdale after last week’s loss to the Sacramento Kings. It was third time the group has met in recent days. Rambis then attended the Lakers’ pregame coaches meeting before the Utah game. Rambis advocated for the Lakers to use bigger lineups with Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan.

Vogel helped guide the Lakers to a title in his first season with the team, but he was only given a one-year extension before the start of this season.

Nuggets acquire Bryn Forbes in a three-team in trade with Spurs and Celtics

The Denver Nuggets  have acquired Bryn Forbes from the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team trade that involved also the Boston Celtics.

Per ESPN, The Nuggets will send Bol Bol and P.J. Dozier to the Celtics, and the Spurs will acquire Boston forward Juancho Hernangomez and Denver’s 2028 second-round pick, sources said.

The Nuggets are hopeful Forbes can improve their 3-point shooting. The Celtics will save approximately $3 million in salary on the deal, which will help them avoid the luxury tax. Dozier is lost for the season with an ACL tear, and Bol underwent foot surgery on Tuesday that’s expected to sideline him for three months. Dozier is an unrestricted free agent this summer, and Bol will be a restricted free agent.

Boston has no immediate plans to waive Dozier or Bol, certainly not before the Feb. 10 trade deadline.

Lakers, coach Frank Vogel reportedly ‘on the hot seat’

According to The Athletic, Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel is ‘on the hot seat’ and in all likelihood would have been fired in case of yet another negative performance in last night’s match, later won by LeBron and his teammates against the Utah Jazz.

Bill Oram and Sam Amick explain that Vogel would have come close to being fired after the 37-point loss against the Nuggets.

The Front Office fears that Vogel has lost leadership of the locker room and will continue to evaluate his position game after game.

Vogel is under contract until the end of next season.

LaVine has begun targeted therapy and will be reassessed early next week when a more definitive timetable will be determined. The Bulls say that their All Star guard is not expected to miss significant time.

The Indiana Pacers today announced that they have signed guard Lance Stephenson to a 10-day contract.

The Pacers previously signed Stephenson to 10-day contracts under the NBA’s COVID-related hardship exception.

Stephenson has produced 12.8 points, 5.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 6 games under the previous 10-day contracts.

After right thumb surgery six weeks ago, Miami Heat All-Star center Bam Adebayo is targeting a return vs. the Toronto Raptors on Monday, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Adebayo, who has averaged 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game this season, has been ramping up on the court this week.

Cavs to hire Jose Calderon to front office role

The Cleveland Cavaliers have hired José Calderón as Special Advisor to the Front Office, Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Calderón joins the Cavaliers from the National Basketball Players Association where he served as the Special Assistant to the Executive Director, working closely with NBPA Executive Director Michele Roberts and the NBPA’s senior management team on union strategy and specific issues relevant to current NBA players. In his role with the Cavaliers, Calderón will assist the front office achieve their goals both on and off the court in a variety of engagements.

“We are thrilled to add someone of José Calderón’s background and experience to our front office,” said Altman. “His accomplishments as a basketball player and familiarity with our organization will be invaluable. We look forward to his insights and perspective on how we can continue moving this team forward and enhancing our efforts towards sustainable and long-term success here in Cleveland.”

Calderón spent 14 seasons in the NBA, playing for seven different teams, including the Cavaliers’ NBA Finals run during the 2017-18 season. He posted career averages of 8.9 points, 2.4 rebounds and 5.8 assists in 26.4 minutes over 895 career games. A native of Villanueva de la Serena, Spain, Calderón played six seasons in the Spanish professional leagues before beginning his NBA career in 2005 with the Toronto Raptors. Calderón also represented his home country at four Olympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016), earning silver medals in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze medal in 2016.

Russell Westbrook is happy to be at the Lakers and has no regrets for his trade happened last offseason.

It’s kind of what I was mentioning back there (during the press conference). I see this game so different (in terms of) how to use it to be able to impact things. “Regardless of if (a trade) did happen or if it didn’t happen, nothing’s going to change my mentality or my purpose. I feel like I have a purpose that’s bigger than basketball and I always keep that as my forefront regardless of what happens inside of pro sports.” –

Warriors big man James Wiseman underwent minor surgery in mid-December.

Per The Athletic, James Wiseman underwent a minor surgery on his knee in mid-December, which has slowed his comeback.

Wiseman underwent surgery on his meniscus initially in April.

Wiseman’s December surgery was a scope and cleanup to flush out some loose bodies. Wiseman has spent the past month building toward full-contact activity.

“His rehab is going really well,” Steve Kerr said. “His knee is feeling good. His spirits are up, he’s bouncing around practice — high energy. He’s getting ready to play with some contact. It’s exciting just to see a smile on his face and to see him back after this long of an absence.”
