Raptors reportedly asking high price to consider Anunoby trade

The Toronto Raptors have let rival front office know that it would take multiple unprotected first round picks for them to even consider trading OG Anunoby, sources tell Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

The Raptors would seek a trade package in the neighborhood of what the Atlanta Hawks sent to the San Antonio Spurs for Dejounte Murray. That trade included three first round picks and a draft swap. According to Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports, the New Orleans Pelicans are one of the teams that have registered interest in Toronto Raptors players OG Anunoby & Gary Trent Jr.

Clippers reportedly interested in Mike Conley

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, the Los Angeles Clippers are looking for a point guard and are interested in Mike Conley.

The experienced playmaker is scoring over 10 points with 7 assists per game in his fourth season with the Utah Jazz.

 

Nets, Pacers among teams interested in John Collins

Just a year and a half after signing a rich contract extension, John Collins looks set to leave the Atlanta Hawks.

According to Marc Stein, the Front Office has asked Collins’ representatives to seek a trade.

The reporter mentions Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets and Indiana Pacers among the franchises interested in the big man.

Collins this year is producing 13.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

Jonathan Isaac to play in G-League on Wednesday

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that after missing two and a half seasons rehabilitating a severe left knee injury, Orlando Magic F Jonathan Isaac will play a game for the franchise’s G League affiliate on Wednesday, a step toward an NBA return that’s expected to come in near future.

Isaac is likely to play two games for the Lakeland Magic on a comeback that’s been in the making since tearing his left anterior cruciate ligament on August 2, 2020 in the NBA bubble, sources said.

Suns reportedly interested in Jalen McDaniels

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly interested in Hornets forward Jalen McDaniels, as reported by Shams Charania.

McDaniels, who is in the final season of the four-year deal he signed with Hornets as a rookie, is averaging 10.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 26.5 minutes per game, which are all career-highs.

LeBron James: I need to be on the floor with Bronny

LeBron James reiterated that he wants to be on the floor with his son Bronny in the NBA.

Per ESPN, “I need to be on the floor with my boy, I got to be on the floor with Bronny,” James said of his eldest son, currently a senior in high school, who would not be eligible to play in the NBA until the 2024-25 season under the rules of the current collective bargaining agreement.

James said he and Bronny do not actively discuss that future possibility, but he knows it’s something that interests his son, too. “I ask him what are his aspirations, and he says he wants to play in the NBA,” James said. “So, if he wants do to it, he’s got to put in the work. I’m here already, so, I’m just waiting on him.”

Tyler Dorsey works out for Lakers

The Greek-American guard is drawing serious interest form Euroleague teams as Monaco, Fenerbahce and Olympiacos.

General Manager Rob Pelinka and head coach Darvin Ham were both in the gym watching Dorsey, as reported by Krysten Peak.

Lakers, Mavs among teams reportedly interested in Bojan Bogdanovic

Detroit Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic has long been in trade rumors despite enjoying the best season of his NBA career.

The Croatian player – 21.1 points and 2.7 assists per game, 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from beyond the arc and 89 percent on free throws- has attracted the interest of many teams, including – according to Jake Fischer – Mavericks, Lakers, Cavaliers and Suns.

The Pistons, after extending his contract, plan to ask for a future first-round pick and a young player, or additional picks, to approve a trade.

Celtics trade Noah Vonleh to the Spurs

The NBA market is starting to move when we are almost a month away from the trade deadline.

The Boston Celtics traded Noah Vonleh and cash consideration to the San Antonio Spurs, Shams Charania reports.

Texas team will release Gorgui Dieng to create the roster spot needed to close the trade. The Spurs will also waive Vonleh, whose contract would have become guaranteed if he had stayed on the roster after Jan. 7.

Tyler Dorsey not in a rush to sign new contract, hopeful to have another chance in the NBA

Tyler Dorsey is not in a rush to sign a contract or to return in Europe.
The Greek guard wants another chance in the NBA after being waived by the Dallas Mavericks.
Dorsey is drawing the interest of Olympiacos and Fenerbahce plus he has an offer from Monaco.
But he will wait for the ten-day contracts to open in the NBA to see if there will be another opportunity.
NBA teams will be allowed to sign players to ten-day contracts from January 5.

Pelicans’ Zion Williamson out at least three weeks with injury

New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson has been diagnosed with a right hamstring strain, the team announced Tuesday evening.

The team said Williamson will be reevaluated in three weeks.

Williamson was injured late in the third quarter Monday night in a loss to the 76ers in Philadelphia. After gathering a rebound off a miss from Joel Embiid, Williamson pushed the ball up court. As soon as he crossed the half-court line, he seemed to feel something in his right hamstring.

Jabari Parker’s agent denies player is close to signing with KK Partizan

Jabari Parker’s agent, Nuno Pedroso, denied that the former NBA player is close to reaching an agreement with Partizan Belgrade, as reported by Telegraf.rs.

via Hoopshype. “Jabari Parker is currently is looking for overseas opportunities now. He had offers from two NBA teams and was close to signing, but in the end there was no agreement and now we are looking at other options, primarily overseas. As for Partizan, nothing is close. We just informed the club that he is on the market and that he is a free agent. The stories that negotiations are underway are not true,” Nuno Pedroso told Mozzart Sport.

Raptors waive Justin Champagnie

The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have waived forward Justin Champagnie (Sham-Penny). Toronto’s roster now stands at 14, with two two-way players.

Champagnie, 6-foot-6, 202 pounds, averaged 2.2 rebounds, 1.9 rebounds and 7.5 minutes in 39 career games with the Raptors. He scored in double figures twice, including a career-high 14 points Jan. 4, 2022 against San Antonio. Champagnie originally signed a two-way contract with Toronto in the summer of 2021.

LeBron James: I’m a winner and I want to win

LeBron James has one goal: to win because he is a winner.

Per ESPN, “I don’t have a number,” James said Wednesday after the Los Angeles Lakers’ 112-98 loss to his former team, the Miami Heat, when asked how many more seasons he has left. “I know as long as my mind stays in it, I can play at this level for a minute. Now, that’s up to my mind. My body is going to be OK because if my mind is into it, I will make sure my body is taken care of and I’ll continue to put in the work.”

Winning, it seems in James’ estimation, is the true fountain of youth.

“I’m a winner and I want to win,” James said. “And I want to win and give myself a chance to win and still compete for championships. That has always been my passion, that has always been my goal since I entered the league as an 18-year-old kid out of Akron, Ohio.

“And I know it takes steps to get there, but once you get there and know how to get there, playing basketball at this level just to be playing basketball is not in my DNA. It’s not in my DNA anymore. So, we’ll see what happens and see how fresh my mind stays over the next couple years.”

James Harden reportedly considering return to Rockets

All-Star guard James Harden is seriously considering a return to the Houston Rockets in free agency this July, if he decides against a new deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Harden signed a two-year, $68.6 million contract with the Sixers, including a player option for 2023-24 that allows him to reenter free agency this summer.

Billionaire mortgage lender Mat Ishbia is finalizing a purchase – in the neighborhood of $4b – of the Phoenix Suns and the Phoenix Mercury, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal, expected to be completed in the near future, would end the tumultuous tenure of owner Robert Sarver.

Bucks forward Ingles targeting return on Monday

After nearly 10 months of rehabilitation on a torn left ACL, Milwaukee Bucks forward Joe Ingles is targeting his return vs. New Orleans on Monday, reports ESPN.

Once Ingles successfully completes a final 5-on-5 workout Saturday, that’ll be the last hurdle in his comeback. Ingles signed a one-year, $6.5M free agent deal with the Bucks in July.

Adrian Wojnarowski said that there are no guarantees that Lonzo Ball will play this season for the Chicago Bulls.
Ball is out since early in 2022 due to a knee injury.

“There are no guarantees, I’m told, that [Lonzo Ball] plays at all this season. He’s rehabbing that knee now, he still has some pain in it.”

 

Joel Embiid says Philadelphia 76ers fans want to trade him

Joel Embiid said the Philadelphia 76ers want to trade him in an interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.

Per Yahoo Sports, “… So we can be better as a team,” said Embiid in an interview with Jake Fischer of Yahoo. “I think we are really good, and we still got a long way to go. But I love where we’re at. It’s all about everybody giving up themselves and coming together as a team so we can accomplish what we want to do.”

Embiid was then asked to deliver a message to the fans of the Sixers that are panicking and want to fire Doc Rivers.

“I don’t know,” Embiid said, shrugging. “Sixers fans, they want to trade me.”

Fischer then said “You don’t believe that.”

“I do believe that,” replied Embiid. “They want to trade me.”

Fischer said that the fans definitely don’t want Embiid and traded and would prefer a coaching change.

“Look, all I can do is try to do my best every game,” said Embiid. “I’m grateful to be in this position, because it’s not an easy job. If it was easy, everybody would do it.”
