Heat to retire Udonis Haslem jersey on January 19

The Miami Heat will retire Udonis Haslem’s No. 40 next month, making him the sixth player in franchise history to be so honored. Haslem spent his entire 20-year NBA career with the franchise, signing as an undrafted free agent from Florida on Aug. 6, 2003, and retired after seeing limited action in the 2022-23 season. Now 43, Haslem won three NBA championships, seven Eastern Conference titles and 12 divisional crowns with the Heat. He was a team captain for 16 seasons.

During Morey’s three-year tenure, the Sixers have achieved a .653 winning percentage. This contract extension synchronizes Morey’s term with that of the Sixers’ new coach, Nick Nurse.

Grizzlies reportedly working to retain Bismack Biyombo

According to Shams Charania, the Memphis Grizzlies plan to keep center Bismack Biyombo.

The team will have to clear a roster spot given Ja Morant’s imminent return to the court, as Biyombo was signed under an exception granted by the league to make up for the point guard’s lengthy disqualification.

With Adams out for the season, the big man’s contribution has become critical to the future of the team led by Coach Jenkins.

Biyombo is producing averages of 5.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 blocks per game.

Lakers, 76ers reportedly expected to be trade suitors for Zach LaVine

The Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers are expected to have interest in trading for Chicago Bulls’ star Zach LaVine, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic. Both the Lakers, who have to wait until January 15 for several players to become trade-eligible, and the Sixers are operating with patience in letting the trade market develop.

Hawks, Kings, Pacers reportedly expected to pursue Siakam or Anunoby

The Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers are expected to pursue trades for Pascal Siakam or OG Anunoby, if the Toronto Raptors make either player available, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Siakam is in the final season of his four-year contract with Toronto at $37.9 million for this year. Anunoby has a $19.9 million player option for next season that he’s widely expected to opt out of in favor of unrestricted free agency.

De’Aaron Fox Declines Kings’ $105 Million Extension, Eyes Supermax Deal

The Sacramento Kings offered De’Aaron Fox a two-year extension worth $105 million before the start of the 2023-24 season, according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. This two-year offer is the maximum the Kings are currently allowed to extend. Fox declined the extension in hopes of making an All-NBA team again this season, which would qualify him to sign a four-year supermax contract worth approximately $245 million. Both sides are interested in a long-term deal. Fox is represented by Rich Paul. Last offseason, the Kings signed Domantas Sabonis to a renegotiation and extension worth $217 million.

Celtics’ Porzingis could return for eventual NBA Cup Final Four

There’s optimism Boston Celtics C Kristaps Porzingis (calf strain) will return to lineup this week, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Porzingis is out for In Season Tourney quarters vs. Indiana Monday, but there’s increasing confidence he’ll be back in Vegas for IST Final 4 should Celtics advance. Latvian forward suffered the strain on Nov. 24 and will miss his fourth straight game tonight.

Bull’s Karnisovas primary objective is trading Zach LaVine

Arturas Karnisovas’s primary objective is still trading Zach LaVine, sources told K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago.

According to reports, Karnisovas is stating that he wants to examine the Bulls roster following the LaVine deal in response to questions about other players.

Earlier in the week, Shams Charania said that the Bulls were interested in trading for Austin Reaves from the Lakers.

Johnson continues by saying that Andre Drummond would attract interest from throughout the NBA should the Bulls want to rebuild through trades.

Grizzlies say Luke Kennard will miss at least two weeks

The Memphis Grizzlies said on Monday that Luke Kennard, who has a bone bruise in his left knee, will be sidelined for at least two weeks.

After missing the first two games due to injury, Kennard sustained the injury on November 14 against the Lakers.

Xavier Tillman, who was also injured against the Lakers, is sidelined for a few weeks due to a left leg injury.

Marcus Smart’s left foot injury will keep him out of action for three to five weeks, the club said last Friday.

Lakers more concentrated on internal improvement than trade rumors

Marc Stein of Substack reports that the Los Angeles Lakers are concentrating on “internal improvement” in the midst of trade speculations involving Zach LaVine.

LaVine is allegedly interested in being moved to the Lakers, Heat, and Sixers, among other clubs.

As for the Lakers’ interest in LaVine, Stein says it’s unclear.

Additionally, the squad is hopeful that Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent’s comeback will help them.

Kings expected to be forceful in trade negotiations this season

The Sacramento Kings didn’t stop at ending their playoff skid the previous year. Sacramento hopes to establish the postseason as a yearly event. According to Shams Charania of FanDuel, they are anticipated to be forceful in trade negotiations this season in order to make it happen.

Talks about any star player that enters the market are anticipated to involve the Kings. Players like Zach LaVine, OG Anunoby, and Pascal Siakam may be among them.

It’d also need to feature Hachimura or Vincent as additional matching salary, another player and either the team’s 2029 or 2030 first-round pick – potentially with protections..”

Bulls and DeMar DeRozan might agree to discuss trade?

The Chicago Bulls may be looking at trade targets other than Zach LaVine. Eventually, the Bulls and DeMar DeRozan might agree to discuss transactions as well.

Chicago and DeRozan are still at odds during extension negotiations. In the summer of 2021, DeRozan signed a three-year contract with the Bulls as part of a sign-and-trade agreement with the San Antonio Spurs. He is currently in the final year of that contract. DeRozan and Chicago are reportedly at odds over years and money for a potential deal.

It’s plausible that the Bulls are considering a DeRozan deal as they try to make changes to their roster and salary structure. It is said that DeRozan will “keep an eye on” Chicago’s actions during the LaVine trade negotiations.

Daniel Theis and the Indiana Pacers have agreed to a buyout, with the German big man headed to the Los Angeles Clippers -assuming he lears waivers- to replace the injured Mason Plumlee.

Theis played in only one game with the Pacers in the first part of the regular season.

Denver Nuggets’ head coach Michael Malone has agreed on a contract extension that will make him one of the NBA’s highest-paid coaches, sources told ESPN on Monday.

Malone – who has led Denver to a Western Conference-leading 8-2 record to start the 2023-24 season – spent eight seasons lifting the franchise out of the lottery, into the playoffs and, ultimately, to an NBA title. Nuggets’ Jamal Murray to miss rest of November with hamstring strain

Jamal Murray strained his right hamstring, which will probably keep him out of action for the rest of November.

In Saturday night’s Denver Nuggets victory over the Chicago Bulls, Murray sustained an injury. Murray experienced a comparable injury during the preseason.
