Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez, in an unsuccessful attempt to acquire a majority stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves, had proposed significant cuts to the team’s payroll, raising the concerns of majority owner Glen Taylor.
These proposed reductions would, according to Taylor, have undermined the team’s competitiveness for the title. Faced with these disagreements, Taylor cancelled the sales agreement.
The dispute between the parties led the NBA to request not to discuss it publicly. The decision interrupts a three-year process that would have seen Lore and Rodriguez take control of the franchise.
