During his introduction in Boston, the new Celtics forward discussed his role alongside Tatum and the initial fan reaction to his involvement in the Jaylen Brown trade.

Paul George was officially introduced as a new Boston Celtics player. During the event, the former Clippers star made it clear that he does not want to challenge Jayson Tatum’s status as Boston’s centerpiece, emphasizing his desire to help him and contribute to a roster he considers elite. George also addressed the initial reaction from Celtics fans to his involvement in the trade that sent Jaylen Brown away from Boston.

“We have a superstar and that’s JT. I’m not here to not necessarily steal the shine or try to reinvent who I am. I’m here to help JT, and he’s the guy. I’ve played alongside another superstar wing, and we co-existed beautifully.”

George also praised his new environment in Boston: “We’ve got an unbelievable roster, unbelievable coach. I’ve always admired everything Boston has done and stood for.”

Finally, the new Celtic addressed the initial reaction from Boston fans: “No personal feelings towards the initial, you know, how it was received here in Boston. To be honest, it’s fair. Hopefully, with how we start this year, they understand this is a new, you know, a new team and something that they can be proud of.”
