Finland beat Belgium 71-66 in Charleroi in Group G of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers, led by Olivier Nkamhoua’s huge double-double: 23 points and 12 rebounds in just over 25 minutes (10-of-17), with a team-best +8. Belgium were paced by Emmanuel Lecomte with 20 points and 6 assists without a turnover.
Belgium controlled the game for 33:28, built a 13-point lead early in the second (28-15) and still led 61-51 late in the fourth. Then Finland flipped it with a 13-0 run, shooting 6-of-7 from the field and forcing two turnovers, taking their first lead on Mikael Jantunen’s layup for 62-61 with 3:35 left.
Edon Maxhuni hit a clutch three, Jantunen and Nkamhoua delivered key baskets, and Nkamhoua added a crucial dunk plus 3 crunch-time points to keep the momentum rolling. Jantunen finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds, went 8-for-8 at the line and contributed 6 points and a block in crunch time, while Belgium managed just one field goal down the stretch.
