The USA are back on top of the world after beating France 97-79 in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 final in Berlin.
After trailing 45-43 at halftime, the Americans shifted gears after the break, outscoring France 30-12 in the third quarter. Clark capped the run with a basket to make it 73-57 heading into the final period.
Clark then pushed the lead past 20 early in the fourth quarter, with the USA going up by as many as 26 with just over six minutes remaining. The rest was simply a matter of playing out the final minutes.
Young led the way with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Breanna Stewart delivered her usual dominant performance with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Clark added 12 points and 3 assists, while Chelsea Gray finished with 12 points and 6 assists.
It is the USA’s fifth consecutive World Cup title.
France could not find answers for the Americans’ numerous offensive options. Gabby Williams led his team with 20 points and 7 assists, while Dominique Malonga added 21 points and 7 rebounds.
