Giorgio Armani has died. The Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur passed away at the age of 91, having celebrated his birthday less than two months ago. The world has lost a giant who made Italy great. And who, with heart and passion, among his many interests, saved Olimpia Milano and brought it back to the top of basketball.

Primo di tre figli, cresciuto a Piacenza, Giorgio Armani arriva a Milano nel 1949. Inutile, superficiale, su queste frequenze, ripercorrere le tappe di un percorso senza eguali. Possiamo solo dire che nel 2008, dopo invito di Adriano Galliani, rileva la proprietà di Olimpia Milano, tramite il suo CEO Livio Proli. Una società gloriosa, che rischiava la sparizione, che si rilancia. La pallacanestro, da sempre, gli stava nel cuore. Era lo sport del fratello Sergio.
The eldest of three children, Giorgio Armani grew up in Piacenza and arrived in Milan in 1949. It would be pointless and superficial to retrace the stages of his unparalleled career here. We can only say that in 2008, following an invitation from Adriano Galliani, he took over ownership of Olimpia Milano through its CEO Livio Proli. A glorious club that was in danger of disappearing was relaunched. Basketball had always been close to his heart. It was his brother Sergio’s sport.
As owner of Olimpia Milano, he brought the city a championship title that had been awaited for 18 years, and then went on to win five more. Along with four Italian Cups.
