Mike Tobey joins Scaligera Verona: deal reached

The American center, with Slovenian passport, will be the final addition to head coach Alessandro Ramagli’s roster for the 2026-27 season.

Tezenis Scaligera Verona have reached an agreement with Mike Tobey, as first reported by Pianeta Basket. The Slovenian big man, born in 1994 and standing 2.13 meters tall, will be the team’s new center under head coach Alessandro Ramagli, completing the roster for the 2026-27 season.

Tobey brings extensive experience at the highest level of European basketball, built primarily in Spain with Valencia, Tenerife, Barcelona and Gran Canaria, as well as a stint with Crvena Zvezda. Earlier in his career, he played college basketball at Virginia and briefly appeared in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets.

Last season with Gran Canaria, Tobey averaged 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in Liga Endesa, while in the Basketball Champions League he posted 9.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

An experienced and reliable addition in the frontcourt for Scaligera, who had considered several other options before ultimately choosing the Slovenian center.
