During his career, Westbrook also played for the Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, and Sacramento Kings, averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists and 5.4 rebounds in his final NBA season.
He retires with career averages of 20.9 points, 8.0 assists and 6.9 rebounds in 1,301 games, while holding the NBA’s all-time record with 209 career triple-doubles.
His résumé includes:
- NBA MVP (2016-17)
- 9× NBA All-Star
- 9× All-NBA selection
- 3× assists leader
- 2× scoring champion
- NBA 75th Anniversary Team member
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Westbrook retired despite receiving offseason offers from both the Sacramento Kings and the Washington Wizards, choosing to walk away from the game on his own terms.
