Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement with Kyle Hines to extend his contract. After coming to Milano in the summer of 2020, Hines has won one Italian League championship, a Supercup, two Italian Cups and helped the team reach the EuroLeague Final Four in 2021. “We are thrilled that Kyle has decided to extend his legendary career and to have chosen to do it again in Milan. His example is a great inspiration to all of us and his contribution on the court will be essential to reach the goals we have set,” Olimpia general manager Christos Stavropoulos said. “Milano is a city that my family and I have come to love, I like this organization, I like to play with this group of guys. I chose Milano to keep winning, which is the only important thing for me, I’m happy to be able to continue here,” says Kyle Hines.
Kyle Hines, born in Sicklerville on September 2, 1986, is a 1.98 mt center, who came to Olimpia from CSKA Moscow. He has been named the EuroLeague Defensive player of the Year three times, including this season. In the same competition, which he has won four times, he is first ever for offensive rebounds and two-point field goals made, second for blocks. He has also exceeded the 3,000 points scored. Hines played one year at Camden Catholic High School, New Jersey and then spent the next three years at the Timber Creek Regional High School. In his senior year, he was included in the All-State Second team and became the school’s all-time leading scorer. In 2004 he moved to North Carolina-Greensboro, where in 2005 he was named Southern Conference freshman of the year and as a junior he was voted Southern Conference Player of the Year (20.9 points, 9.0 rebounds per game). As a senior, he scored 19.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. During his last three years of college ball, he has always been named to the All-Southern first team.
His professional career began in Italy in Veroli where he won the Italian Cup of Legadue for two consecutive years (16.9 points and 8.6 rebounds on average in the first year, 18.5 points and 8.1 rebounds in the second). In 2010 he landed in Bamberg where he won the Super Cup, the German Cup, and the league championship. He was the playoffs’ MVP (12.9 points and 5.4 rebounds on average in his first EuroLeague season). In 2011 he moved to Olympiacos Piraeus where in two years he won the EuroLeague twice and the Greek title in the 2012. In 2013 he joined CSKA Moscow where he won the EuroLeague two more times, in 2016 and 2019, as well as winning six VTB League titles. He was included in the All-EuroLeague Team of the Decade.
