QS focuses on EA7 Emporio Armani’s league opener after the Super Cup and the defeat to Partizan. Trieste arrives at the Forum still incomplete

Olimpia Milano’s season resumed with their third consecutive Super Cup title, but their subsequent EuroLeague opener in Belgrade against Partizan highlighted some difficulties. As Sandro Pugliese writes in QS, less than 48 hours after the trip to Serbia, Peppe Poeta’s team is already back on the court for its league opener against Trieste.

The first game at the Forum also has a celebratory dimension, with Olimpia set to celebrate last June’s Scudetto and the Super Cup won the previous week in front of their home crowd. On the court, however, the main focus is on energy management, considering that the schedule immediately includes two more European games against Virtus Bologna and Baskonia.

QS also highlights the decisions surrounding the rotation. Mathews’ absence, with the player still dealing with a physical issue, limits Poeta’s options, while Booker is expected to remain out of the league rotation, barring any emergencies involving Moses Wright.

The new American center is one of the players attracting the most attention after dominating the Super Cup and winning the MVP award. His EuroLeague debut in Belgrade was less impressive, but his presence in the paint remains one of the key aspects to watch.

The newspaper also points to the possibility of Poeta beginning to distribute the rotation among different players, given the demanding schedule ahead. Burnell was left out during the Super Cup, while Guduric could also be among the players rested. He was one of the most positive performers in Belgrade, but could be managed carefully due to the physical issues that have affected him in the past.

As for Trieste, the newspaper describes a team that is still incomplete and has a shortened roster after a complicated summer. Francesco Taccetti’s side can nevertheless count on several talented players to watch, starting with Colbey Ross at point guard and Langston Galloway on the perimeter. The latter, who has already played in Italy with Reggio Emilia and Trapani, has shown that he can be an important scoring threat in the league.
