Japan is raising the stakes ahead of the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Asian Qualifiers. Rui Hachimura and Yuki Kawamura have both been included in the Japan Basketball Association’s 17-man roster for Window 4, which will take place from August 27 to 31.
The former Lakers player joined the national team group today, as announced by the federation on social media.

Japan enters the second round after an impressive 5-1 record in Group B during the opening phase. The roster also features experienced players such as former NBA veteran Yuta Watanabe, Yuki Togashi and Yudai Baba, as well as Keisei Tominaga and Josh Hawkinson, who was named MVP of the first round.
