Greece booked their place in the EuroBasket 2025 Quarter-Finals with an 84-79 win over Israel in Riga. Spanoulis’ team led almost the entire way, surviving Israel’s late pushes with key plays from Kostas Sloukas and youngster Alexandros Samodurov. Up next: a clash with Lithuania on Tuesday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo stole the show, finishing with 37 points and 10 rebounds in a dominant outing, punishing every defensive look Israel tried. Sloukas added clutch baskets, while Samodurov gave a crucial boost. For Israel, Deni Avdija closed his tournament with 22 points.
This marks Greece’s fourth straight Quarter-Final appearance and ninth in the last ten EuroBaskets. Israel, meanwhile, bow out with their best finish since 2003 still standing at seventh place.
