Germany will enter the next stage of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers with a highly experienced roster. Head coach Alex Mumbru has selected 15 players, including three NBA players and seven players currently competing in the EuroLeague.
The NBA contingent is led by Dennis Schröder, joined by Isaiah Hartenstein and Tristan da Silva. Germany will also have a strong EuroLeague presence, with Isaac Bonga of Panathinaikos, David Krämer of Crvena Zvezda, Maodo Lo of Zalgiris Kaunas and Daniel Theis of Maccabi Tel Aviv. Bayern Munich will contribute Oscar da Silva, Andreas Obst and Johannes Thiemann.
The team will also feature plenty of continuity from Germany’s recent international success. Seven players on the roster were part of the squad that won the 2023 FIBA World Cup, while eight were members of the team that captured the EuroBasket 2025 title.
Germany will begin preparations on August 17 in Hamburg before taking part in the Turkish Airlines Supercup on August 21 and 22. The World Cup qualifying campaign will resume on August 27 against the Netherlands in Cologne, followed by a road game against Poland in Gdansk on August 30.
Germany enters the next stage with a 5-1 record and sits third in Group K, level with Poland and one win behind Croatia. The top three teams in the group will qualify for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.
