Four co-hosts named for FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025

Tournament will be played in Czech Republic, Germany, Italy and Greece, who will also host the Final Phase

FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 will be hosted by four countries for the first time, it was announced today.

Czech Republic, Germany, Greece and Italy were approved as the four hosts by the FIBA Europe Executive Committee, and will provide the stage for the 40th edition of one of Europe’s premier events in the basketball calendar.

Each country will host a part of the Group Phase – with the exact locations to be confirmed at a later date – before the Final Phase is held solely in Athens, Greece, where the champions will be crowned.

Since the implementation of the co-hosting format in 2015, each edition has been hosted by two countries with Romania and Hungary first to do so before Serbia and Latvia in 2019, Spain and France in 2021 and the most recent tournament being held in Slovenia and Israel.

A total of 36 nations including the four co-hosts will compete in the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers, however the four co-hosts will be placed in the same group in a modification to the competition system.

The remaining 32 teams will be drawn into eight groups of four teams and will battle it out for the last 12 spots at the Final Round.

The draw for the Qualifiers will take place on September 19 at the House of Basketball in Mies, Switzerland with the first window to take place in November 2023.
