FIBA Europe Cup to end with a Final Four to be played September/October?

The Board agreed that the best available option for achieving a satisfactory closure to these three competitions are season-ending tournaments in September and/or October 2020

The FIBA Europe Board convened on Tuesday to discuss and take decisions about upcoming events.

The meeting, which took place via video conference, was chaired by FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel, with FIBA President Hamane Niang, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis and FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak also in attendance.

With regard to the three FIBA Europe club competitions 2019-2020 that have been suspended until the end of the season (EuroLeague Women; EuroCup Women; FIBA Europe Cup), the Board agreed that the best available option for achieving a satisfactory closure to these three competitions are season-ending tournaments in September and/or October 2020 in the following formats – a Final Four for FIBA Europe Cup; a Final Eight for EuroLeague Women and a Final Eight for EuroCup Women. Each tournament to be organized in one destination.

The FIBA Europe will now consult all clubs, National Federations as well as ULEB to try and reach a consensus among all stakeholders before a decision is made by the Board in May.
