The field is set for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 after Thursday’s draw in Berlin, Germany sorted the 24 teams into groups for the 41st edition of Europe’s flagship basketball, set to take place in Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany from September 1-18, 2022.

FIBA EuroBasket 2022 ambassador Dirk Nowitzki and former internationals Roberto Brunamonti and Viktor Sanikidze assisted in drawing the teams.

The draw, held with a limited number of guests – in adherence to local COVID-19 restrictions and regulations, was attended by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Muller, Germany’s Parliamentary State Secretary Stephan Mayer, FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel, FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak, as well as delegations from the four co-hosts.

The draw distributed the 24 qualified teams into four groups of six teams each, as per the seedings, which were assigned based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike.

The groups for the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 are as follows:

Group A and Group B will tip off the tournament on Thursday, September 1 in Tbilisi and Cologne respectively, with action commencing in the Milan-based Group C and Group D in Prague a day later.

The Group Phase will conclude on Thursday, September 8, with the top four teams from each group advancing to Berlin for the Final Phase, where the champions of Europe will be crowned on September 18.

Ready to amplify the atmosphere and raise the roof at FIBA EuroBasket 2022, the official mascot Bounce – a baller on the court and a chart-topping DJ off the hardwood – made his first public appearance during the ceremony.

The draw also served as the launchpad for the #BringTheNoise campaign, which will be at the heart of inviting fans from across the continent to support their national teams at Europe’s flagship basketball event in Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany.
