Doncic not enough as Germany pulls away to beat Slovenia 99-91, flying into the semifinals

Slovenia leads for most of the game, but Germany completes the comeback in the final quarter, returning to the semifinals like in 2022

Germany is the fourth team to reach the EuroBasket 2025 semifinals, once again making the top 4 just like in 2022. The Germans edged past Slovenia 99-91 after trailing—even by double digits—for almost three quarters. A 7-0 run at the start of the final period sealed the comeback, despite Doncic’s efforts (another 30-point game) briefly putting Slovenia back in front before Schroder’s clutch three-pointer swung momentum.

Germany then held on at the free-throw line, amid a fiery finish that sparked some controversy and drew boos that mainly frustrated coach Sekulic’s squad. The decisive last-quarter stretch ended 29-17, setting up Friday’s showdown for Germany against the tournament surprise, Finland.

Germany: Bonga 7+6, O.Da Silva, Lo 11, T.Da Silva 5, Wagner 23+7+4, Theis 15+9, Schroder 20 & 7 assists, Hollatz, Thiemann 8, Obst 10
Slovenia: Krampelj 9, Nikolic 4, Prepelic 13, Muric 4+5, Rodovic 4+5, Hrovat 11, Omic 7+5, Stergar, Doncic 39+10+7
