Coby White is expected to make his Charlotte Hornets debut on Tuesday, fittingly against his former team, the Chicago Bulls. White has been upgraded to probable as he continues his return from a left calf strain suffered shortly before the trade deadline.
Charlotte acquired White (and Mike Conley, who was later waived) from Chicago in exchange for Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng (later traded to the Milwaukee Bucks) and two second-round picks. The deal initially included a third second-rounder to Chicago, but it was amended once it became clear White would need time to rehab the injury.
White is averaging 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists this season. After starting 26 of 29 games for the Bulls, he’s expected to play mainly off the bench in Charlotte.
