The 39-year-old veteran rejoins Indiana after previously spending three seasons with the franchise

James Johnson is returning to the Indiana Pacers on a training camp deal, according to Jake Fischer. The forward previously played for the franchise from 2022 through 2025, appearing in 39 games.

Johnson did not play in the NBA last season. During the 2024-25 campaign, he made 12 appearances for Indiana and averaged 0.7 points and 0.5 rebounds in 3.1 minutes per game.

The veteran has played 786 games across 16 NBA seasons, averaging 7.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. His experience could benefit a Pacers roster preparing for Tyrese Haliburton’s return.
