MIES (Switzerland) – The power of basketball to unite and empower communities globally gained remarkable momentum last year, with the FIBA Foundation continuing to deliver programs across its three main pillars.

Published on International Youth Day, this latest Impact Report reflects the growing role of basketball in empowering young people and strengthening communities around the world.

Global Impact

The Basketball For Good Impact Report 2025 showcases the positive impact across 127 countries and five continents.

More than 376,000 individuals have been positively impacted, including youth and community leaders, ushering optimism for the long-term ‘pay-it-forward’ effect of the initiatives.

Over 830 Basketball For Good changemakers were empowered, while 608 community projects were supported.

Important Firsts

The confluence of competitive events and Basketball For Good strengthened in 2025. Reflecting the FIBA Foundation’s commitment to enhancing the social impact and legacy of FIBA Events, Basketball For Good activations were held for the first time at all the FIBA continental competitions.

Laudably, numerous Youth Leaders extended these efforts throughout the summer at various Youth EuroBaskets and the U16 Women’s Asia Cup, delivering meaningful community engagement alongside elite competition.

Reflecting the International Youth Day theme of “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” these Youth Leaders across different regions of the world have developed innovative solutions to shared challenges using basketball as a tool for positive social change.

Flagship Initiatives

The flagship Propose A Project platform reached new heights with a record number of 73 projects from 58 different countries.

Building on the strength of this growing community, 43 Basketball For Good festivals were organized in 33 countries to mark World Basketball Day 2025, engaging more than 5,700 participants around the globe.

From local courts to community centers, these celebrations highlighted the power of basketball to inspire positive change, foster meaningful connections, and create opportunities for people of all backgrounds.

Looking ahead

Building on the momentum of 2025 and International Youth Day, the FIBA Foundation remains committed to expanding the reach and impact of Basketball For Good worldwide.

By empowering change-makers, strengthening community networks, and leveraging the social legacy of the FIBA competitions, the Foundation will continue to create opportunities for positive social change both on and off the court.
