Talks over a potential sale of ASVEL appear to be progressing, with the involvement of the Buss family becoming increasingly concrete.
According to Le Progrès, Joey and Jesse Buss were in Lyon on Wednesday, August 12, alongside several investors. The two met with Tony Parker and also visited the TP Academy, where they even took the opportunity to shoot some baskets.

The visit represents another significant step in the negotiations.
Joey and Jesse Buss have extensive experience within a major professional sports organization. The sons of Jerry Buss, they spent years working within the Los Angeles Lakers organization, the NBA franchise their family owned for decades.
Their presence in Lyon comes as discussions continue over a potential change of ownership at ASVEL, with the club’s future also closely linked to the development of the NBA Europe project.
ASVEL valued between €60 million and €80 million
One of the key issues in the negotiations is the club’s valuation.
Some shareholders who joined ASVEL’s ownership structure in recent months, particularly with the potential development of NBA Europe in mind, had hoped to value the club at around €120 million.
According to information reported by Le Progrès, however, the current discussions are based on a valuation of approximately €60 million to €80 million.
That significant gap could make negotiations more complicated and require additional time to reach an agreement.
Deal could be delayed until the end of 2026
ASVEL’s management had initially hoped to reach an agreement by the end of September.
However, the negotiations could now continue for several more months, potentially until the end of 2026.
The Buss brothers’ visit to Lyon is nevertheless an important development. Their presence suggests that the potential takeover has moved beyond a preliminary stage of interest and that discussions with Tony Parker and ASVEL are becoming increasingly concrete.
