UNICS Kazan have officially signed Dominican center Ángel Delgado. The 31-year-old big man, who stands 208 cm tall and weighs 111 kg, has agreed to a one-year contract.

Delgado spent last season with Turkish side Trabzonspor, averaging 9.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 21.8 minutes per game across 25 league appearances.

After playing college basketball at Seton Hall, Delgado signed with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2018, spending most of his time with the Agua Caliente Clippers in the G League. In January 2019, he set a league record by grabbing 31 rebounds in a single game. He made his NBA debut one month later.

Following his time in the United States, Delgado continued his career in Europe, playing for Hapoel Holon, Estudiantes and Bilbao. In 2022, he became the Liga ACB’s leading rebounder.

Delgado returned to Turkey in 2022, playing for Pınar Karşıyaka, Beşiktaş and Galatasaray. With Karşıyaka, he also reached the Turkish league finals.

The Dominican center has also been a regular member of the Dominican Republic national team. He won a bronze medal at the 2016 Centrobasket, averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, while at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup he recorded 8.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

Delgado will join UNICS in Kazan after completing his national team commitments. He is set to take part in the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers, facing Brazil on August 28 and Chile on September 1.

UNICS fans have already had the chance to see Delgado in action. In September 2023, during the VTB League SuperCup matchup against UNICS, he recorded a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds for Beşiktaş.

His size, experience and strength on the boards are expected to add another important piece to UNICS’ frontcourt ahead of the new season.
