Alperen Sengun has entered the EuroBasket history books, becoming the youngest player ever to record a triple-double in the tournament.
In Turkey’s quarterfinal win over Poland, the 23-year-old center delivered a stellar performance, posting 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 30 minutes of action.
The Houston Rockets star is considered one of the frontrunners for the MVP award, but after the game, Sengun preferred to focus on the team’s success rather than his individual milestone:
“I’m a team player, I’m gonna do whatever it takes to win. The triple-double wouldn’t have meant anything if we had lost today,” Sengun said. “I’m happy we won. I give my everything on defense and offense, and I’m just happy. What more can I say? Now we’ll celebrate a bit, then we’ll watch the other games and get ready for the winner between Greece and Lithuania. They’re two great teams, so we need to prepare the right way.”
After seven games, Sengun ranks 7th in points (21.6), 2nd in rebounds (10.9), and 3rd in assists (7.1) at EuroBasket, solidifying his status as one of the tournament’s brightest stars.
