Trey Kaufman-Renn has been granted a temporary restraining order in his legal bid for a sixth season of NCAA eligibility. According to RealGM, citing the Indianapolis Star, the forward is seeking to return to Purdue.
Kaufman-Renn spent five seasons with the Boilermakers, redshirting in 2021-22 before appearing in 147 games over the following four campaigns. He argues that the NCAA’s new five-season eligibility policy should leave him with one more year of college basketball.
The 6-foot-9 forward was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the 59th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and played five Summer League games without signing an NBA contract. Minnesota reportedly supports his return and would retain his draft rights, but the order is temporary and does not represent a final ruling.
